Anyone who dreams of working in a flying car will be one step closer to fulfilling those dreams with the launch of a new mini aircraft / car.
The One, designed by Swedish company Jetson, is a recently released aluminum and carbon fiber personal craft with eight electric motors.
The company says it aims to "facilitate access to the skies with our personal electric aerial vehicle."
A prototype of the car was first built in 2018 and since then the company has been working on a user version, culminating in the launch of The One.
The One is now available for $ 136,000 and is provided as a partially assembled kit that buyers need to assemble at home. However, anyone who is tempted by this idea may find it difficult to wait a little longer.
Jetson's order book for 2022 is already full and at the time of publication there are only three slots left in his 2023 production calendar.
According to the company's website, it has so far received orders from a number of countries and has raised funds to purchase it from other countries, including Australia, Italy, Finland and Japan.
The One will fly at a maximum speed of 102 kilometers per hour as it is limited by software and could be increased in the future.
The maximum flight time is 20 minutes and depending on the size of the charger it takes one to two hours to charge.
It weighs only 86 kg and is capable of vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL), meaning no runway is required.
The One is capable of flying safely if its motor breaks down, including high-speed parachutes deployed for emergencies.
It also uses LIDAR sensors to track the area and avoid obstacles.
Hoverbikes are significantly cheaper than The One, released by Japanese company ALI Technologies in October.
The XTurismo Limited Edition has a conventional engine and four battery-powered motors and can fly at speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour for 40 minutes, but it costs about $ 950,000 to buy.
Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng also announced plans for a flying car this year.
The X2 will fly at an altitude of less than one kilometer for 35 minutes. It has enough space for two passengers and it can fly at a maximum speed of 130 kilometers per hour.
It is also designed to be autonomous, with a button press to control take-off and landing, while an auto-pilot will be in charge during the flight.
